If you want to do work that matters, you must have the courage to turn away those who don’t matter. You must understand that not everyone will like what you do.
There will always be both 5-Stars and 1-Star reviews in any bestselling book you find on Amazon.
And guess what? Both the 5-Stars and 1-Star reviewers are right in their own ways. They’re giving their opinions based on their worldviews, their internal narratives. Not the author’s.
Therefore your job is not to please everyone. Your job is only to please those who matter; those to whom you want to make a difference; those you are seeking to change; and those who can hear you sing and dance to the tune.
Those who can’t, and don’t, they’re right too. But they don’t matter.
So stay calm. Drink coffee. And do the work that matters for those who matter.
