Reading reviews for the right reason

Do you read reviews?

I do. I ALWAYS do.

Whether it’s a movie, a drama, or a $0.99 Kindle book, I read users’ reviews on them before making my decision.

For $0.99? Seriously? Why even bother?

Yes. Even if it’s free, I will not make any decision until I’ve read their reviews.

Here’s why: It takes me about ten hours to finish reading a book. My time would have been well spent if it were a good book. But if it’s a bad one, I’d have wasted ten hours of my life, not $1.99.

Therefore, spending no more than ten minutes reading their reviews before making my decision can save me tens of hours of my life.

You see, it’s not about the money. It’s about the opportunity cost, which, many a time, is worth much more than the price of the item.

But how do I know whether the reviews are fake or biased?

I know. Having read tons of reviews over the years, I can confidently tell you how. But this will be the topic of another post.
