99% of them don’t work.
It’s a case of linear thinking vs system thinking.
Google “weight loss programmes”, and you’ll be flooded with millions of pages of quick fixes. But guess what? Following the latest hacks won’t cut it. Neither does a reductionist theory. If it does, you won’t see any overweight people around.
There are countless reasons why one puts on weight. To name a few, a lack of self-control, metabolic disorder, stress, ageing, hormonal imbalances and what-not.
Weight-loss hacks only treat these causes individually when it could be a combination of two or more reasons that makes one fat.
A car dissembled into its parts is not a car anymore. It’s just a lot of pieces. Pieces can’t take you from point A to point B.
And although all of them are car parts, pieces from a Toyota will not fit into a Ferrari.
Marketing gurus teach the same thing, too. It’s always been around the idea of “doing A will get you B.”
They apply linear thinking to everything when instead, they should be using system thinking (a.k.a. holistic approach) to look at things.
They don’t look at the whole marketing system like a Rubik’s cube. Turning one part will not solve the puzzle. Sometimes, it may even make it worse.
This is why I stopped attending the typical internet marketing seminars, conferences, and masterclasses years ago. Everyone is singing the same song, albeit in a different way.
“But why are these gurus still around?” I can hear some of you say.
In the name of humility, or fear of looking dumb, no one challenges the gurus.
No one dares to ask the gurus, “If you were to start from scratch and do everything exactly what you’re teaching now, can you produce the results you boast about? Or at least close?”
Please, if you’re paying time and money to learn from these so called “experts”, it behoves you to question or challenge everything that matters to you.
And yes, including what I’m telling you here. You won’t hurt my feelings. I promise. I’m not a guru, anyway.
Always be curious. Do your research.
