I gawk whenever I see exotic cars like Lamborghini, Ferrari and McLaren. So, yesterday was no different when I saw a Lamborghini Aventador. When I looked around, I noticed I wasn’t the only one looking at this *beautiful beast parked by the roadside.
The driver, who was inside the car, looked visibly proud. In fact, his “proud” reaction is not uncommon among people who own such cars.
It got me thinking. Do the owners of expensive cars think that we’re admiring them and their riches? I can’t speak for others, but what I’m admiring is the car itself, nothing about the owner. Unless I know the owner, I don’t care much about who’s behind the wheel. Do you?
This sets me thinking. Do people buy expensive stuff they do not need (and probably with the money they do not have) so that they can get noticed by people they do not know?
And if yes, what caused them to behave that way?
What do you think?
*I know, “beautiful beast’ sounds like an oxymoron. But I can’t think of any other word to describe a car that can pull 750 horses and yet still look beautiful.
