Am I getting old?

“Mr Melvin, can you answer these two questions before we approve your application for our registered office address services? We need them for auditing purposes, just in case,” says the person in charge, Annie.

After looking at the questions, I cheekily ask, “Can I fill up anything I like?”

“Sure,” she replies.

Questions:

Q1: Why did you set up your company?
Q2: What plan(s) do you have for your company?

My answers:

A1: To make money.
A2: To make more money.

Annie looks at my answers and bursts out laughing. After wiping the tears off her eyes, she says, “These are the most honest answers I’ve ever seen!”

“Why? Are you expecting me to write some bombastic, nice-sounding, investors-pleasing, corporate mumbo jumbo for a $10-a-month service?”

“Hahaha, no! But I’ve never seen such straightforward answers before, to be honest. You’ve made my day, Mr Melvin!”

“Really? Then do I get any discount for that?”

Annie almost falls off her chair, but not before she approves my $10-a-month application.

Yay!

I used to get upset by such go-through-the-motion, resource-wasting bureaucracy. But now? They bring out the mischief in me. I wonder what caused the change. Is it because I’m getting old?

What about you? Do you get irked by such same-old, one-size-fits-all, time-wasting policies and procedures?
